Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) held its latest Express Entry draw on June 8, 2022.

A total of 932 permanent residence invitations were issued.

The minimum Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score needed to get an Invitation to Apply (ITA) was 796.

As has been the case since September 2021, the latest draw only focused on Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) candidates.

Since its launch in 2015, the Express Entry application management system has existed to manage applications for those seeking permanent residence (PR) through three federal economic class immigration programs: the Federal Skilled Worker Program (FSWP), the Federal Skilled Trades Program (FSTP) and the Canadian Experience Class (CEC).

It is possible to immigrate to Canada via an Express Entry-aligned PNP stream. Known as enhanced streams, the process entails entering the Express Entry pool after confirming you are eligible for one of the three Express Entry programs. While in the pool, a province may invite you to apply to their PNP stream. Should a candidate accept this invitation and get their PNP application approved, they will receive an additional 600 CRS points which will all but guarantee they will receive an ITA from the Canadian government for permanent residence.

IRCC has only been invited PNP candidates via Express Entry since last September, but it has announced that Express Entry invitation rounds for FSWP, CEC, and FSTP candidates will resume in early July. In addition, the processing standard for new candidates will return to six months.

Express Entry and the PNP are the two main ways to gain Canadian permanent residence as an economic class immigrant. Under the Immigration Levels Plan 2022-2024, Canada aims to welcome over 200,000 immigrants through Express Entry and the PNP in 2024.
